This year's family day is an artistic treasure hunt where you are the hunter. Use the map to help you discover up to 50 secret performances 'hidden' throughout the city centre. You can download the map here! The fun starts at 11.00am and all City of Secrets events are free!

THE MALL NORWICH

Pluck

Time: 1.30pm

A witty and inventive string trio who compete, ridicule, argue and seduce their way through Bach to the Beatles. Madcap comedy and superb musicianship in one!

CHAPELFIELD GARDENS

Time: 11.00am, 11.30am, 12.00 noon,1.30pm,2.00pm, 2.30pm, 4.00pm, 4.30pm & 5.00pm

The Séance

For 20 people at a time (suitable for children aged 10+)
Performance lasts 15 minutes 'Psychic medium' Madame Narcosis is waiting for you to step across her threshold into her 'séance' When you are sitting comfortably, she will lift the veil between this world and the next and talk to the spirits (pets a speciality!). If she’s up to it, you may even witness a rare spiritual manifestation. Be on guard, a ghostly finger may be pointing to you! (Please note this is a performance and not a real séance!)

CHAPELFIELD PLAIN

Dries Verhoeven

Time: 11.00am – 6.30pm

Thy Kingdom Come

Performance lasts 30 minutes (there may be a wait before you can enter). An experimental spectacle in which you, the spectator, play the main character. Thy Kingdom Come is a private meeting in a mobile cabin lasting 30 minutes that erases the frontiers between the real world and spectacle. Presented in association with Huis en Festival a/d Werf

CINEMA CITY

Herbie Treehead & Band

Time: 1.00pm

A performance by Herbie Treehead and his band in the pretty Courtyard of Cinema City with their trademark blend of silliness, juggling and dancing.


Hilliard Ensemble

Time: 3.30pm

Critically acclaimed vocal ensemble present a short performance of a Bach motet in the Courtyard of Cinema City.

GENTLEMAN'S WALK

Acrojou
Time: 12 noon, 1.30pm, 3.00pm & 4.30pm

The Wheel House
World Premiere

Performance lasts 30 minutes Groundbreaking acrobatic and visual art company Acrojou defy gravity with this kaleidoscopic piece of rolling theatre! Blending acrobatics, surreal comedy and stunning visuals, two acrobatic characters show us their clanking and comically beautiful universe from their giant, rolling homes.

Time: 12.30pm & 4.00pm

Herbie Treehead & Pete Dobbing

Enjoy Herbie Treehead and Pete Dubbin’s hilarious one man street performances, with their trademark blend of silliness, juggling and dancing.

MILLENNIUM PLAIN

Motionhouse Dance Theatre
Time: 11.30am, 1.00pm, 3.00pm & 4.00pm

Chaser
Performance lasts 15 minutes

Chaser is 15 nail-biting minutes of dynamic dance encounters, high-speed socialising, friendly rivalry, flying and falling. Acrobatic, dramatic and engaging, Chaser draws you right in with its catchy music, attention grabbing style and startling twist to the tale!

ST ANDREW'S HALL

Chamber Orchestra Anglia with Sir Colin Davis

10.30am – 1.30pm & 2.30pm – 3.30pm (open workshop)
Performance: 4.00pm

The talented players of Chamber Orchestra Anglia’s young musicians scheme (coCOA) and the UEA Symphony Orchestra work again with Sir Colin Davis, one of the world’s greatest conductors, and Chamber Orchestra Anglia to rehearse and complete the work begun last year on Elgar’s first symphony.

ST ANDREW'S PLAIN

Dot Comedy

The Mis-information Tent Visit Dot Comedy’s tent – full of leaflets, maps and noticeboards that are completely unhelpful and totally useless!

UPPER CLOSE, CATHEDRAL

Wired Aerial Theatre

Time: 12.30, 3.00pm & 5.30pm

Fervorosa
World Premiere

Performance lasts 35 minutes
Witness the amazing aerial skills of Argentinean choreographer Brenda Angiel and renowned aerialist Wendy Hesketh, as they perform a bungeeassisted dance with the ‘wow’ factor of circus – the bungees attached to their waists allow them to fly, dive, swoop and slide through the air! This is a world première of a new commission for the Without Walls consortium.

EXPRESSO, St GEORGE'S STREET

Rotozaza

Time: 11.00am - 6.00pm

Etiquette

Performance lasts 30 minutes Etiquette is a half-hour experience for two people in a public space but there is no one watching and other people in the café or bar are not aware of it happening! Put on your headphones and listen – they will tell you what to say to each other, or how to use one of the objects positioned near you. There is a kind of magic involved – this is best done with someone you know.

Poetry

Time: 2 pm, 4 pm

‘This Must be the Place’

Each performance lasts 45/50 minutes. For 30 people at a time (suitable for children aged 8+)
Metaphor, simile and skip your way across the Norwich cobbles to Frank’s Bar to find storytelling brain refreshment along with a lovely cup of tea at ‘This Must be the Place’. A poetry cabaret showcasing the work of exciting regional and professional stand up and page poets. Line up includes the amazing literary talent of: Paddy Lapin, John Osbourne, Nathan Hamilton, Meghan Purvis, Molly Naylor, Luke Wright, Joel Stickley & Robert Jackman. All compered with impeccable grace and skill by domestic goddess Ian McKenzie (Yanny Mac)
